The scene was set for a mouth watering clash. Warriors fresh off its first loss in 2012 in Round 4 of the State Knockout Cup looking to redeem themselves from a sluggish performance, Springvale fresh from a victory in the same competition meant that back to business in the Division 1 fixture we were anticipating a classic. The Round 3 clash for North Geelong against Western Suburbs lived up to the battle that was expected. Suburbs are known to be a more physical side and The Warriors more fleet of foot, both sides kept their intensity throughout the match which was a delight to see. At no point could you say that either side was in full control of the match which is what added to the tension packed match.

Saturday’s first home match for the Warriors will leave its fans with very mixed reviews to chew the fat over for the next few days. It wasn’t the prettiest game in the world, best described as an arm wrestle. Both sides had their fair share of opportunities to stamp their authority, but due the their resilience as well as early fatigue thanks to the very warm conditions neither side could find the ascendancy need to snatch all 3 points.
