Juniors Update

Welcome to our new players and parents

Just a couple of reminders for you……

 1. We will be running the following squads for 2010

  • Either U15 or U17 FFV Geelong….. To be confirmed.
  • Under 16 A FFV Metro
  • Under 13 FFV Metro
  • Under 13 FFV Geelong
  • Under 12 A FFV Metro
  • Under 12 FFV Geelong
  • SSF – Under 7/9/11 playing in a new look Hub. (More info to come)

2. Under 13 FFV Geelong will be made up of Under 12 and 13 FFV Metro players playing on a rotational basis (as explained to parents last night).

3. Training times:

  • Under 6/7/8/9/10/11’s (including Sime Didulica’s squad) will be training FRIDAY nights from 5pm @ Elcho Park.
  • Other squads should know there training times.

4.  Don’t forget water bottles and shin guards are compulsory for all training sessions – No shin guards – no training!!

5.  Playing squads will be finalised shortly for all our Metro squads. SSF squads will be finalised after I have registered the number of teams for 2010. The committee in consultation with coaches at SSF level will determine squads and where each SSF player will be playing in season 2010.

6.  Under 6 parents will need to confirm with me by mid march if your child intends to play in organised matches on Sunday mornings.

7.  SSF parents – We need to size up your child for playing tops for this year. Sample will be available to try on after training this Friday.

8.  Playing fees and registration process will be emailed to you in early March. Brand new players to the game will need a copy of their child’s birth certificate and a passport photo for the registration process. All players playing Under 12’s up will also need a passport photo as all juniors, both Geelong and Melbourne, will have an ID card system. So start organising yourselves early to make sure you are ready for the registration process. This is a transition year for football in Geelong. Be mindful that there will be only a window of a couple of weeks for the registration process to happen. I will keep you posted. Code of conduct for both players and parents need to be signed before your child can represent the North Geelong Warriors. (appear on our website)

9.  As the season starts, parents will be rostered through their teams to provide oranges for players at half time, as well helping out with canteen duties for home games, ground set up and acting as lines people/marshalls. Please be mindful that a lot of people give up their time for free to provide your children with a program which that is the envy of the rest of Geelong. So please give a hand when you are politely asked to.

10.  Players who wish to play country championships can, but those playing in metro squads must understand there will be no byes for you to do so this year…. North’s stand is that we would prefer Metro players play for points with our club than in a competition that is not endorsed by the FFV and has no bearing on any representative squads down the road. The pathway for representative soccer is to play for North Geelong in Winter, VCL in the Summer (region based) and there rep squads such as Vic Country and Barwon Academy are determined or chosen from.

Cheers all,
