Wow! ….2009….What a season to remember…..
Young players stamping their place in the team, older players leading by example, master strokes by the coaches, table topping juniors coming through the ranks and the best supporters going around, put that all together and we’ve got ourselves a championship the entire community can be proud of.
The Warriors Reserves finished strongly in an enthralling 2 – 2 draw against Altona East on Saturday whilst the Warriors seniors ended the season in a 1 – 0 loss. This didn’t have any effect on the championship. As we all know now, the Warriors are headed to Division 1 next season and the tough challenges are ahead of us to maintain the success as well as give many young players an opportunity to develop in our Under 21 squad, which serves as our reserve team next season. A special thanks to our reserves, it’s not easy to commit yourself to the reserves team and we’ve faced our challenges this year, however many thanks to the guys who committed and got the best out of themselves. We hope you enjoyed yourselves. Also thank you to Grgo Saric who announced his retirement on Saturday, we wish you well Grgo, you have been a colourful character and a consistent contributor to North Geelong and we wish you well in your future endeavours.
Congratulations to the Under15A team who have won their way to Under 16s Super league. A superb effort by the boys, Sime Jovic and Tam McCulloch.
The action hasn’t stopped yet though. Our two Under 12s are playing in Grand Final action at 10 am and 1pm at Howard Glover reserve, Geelong. Also our Div 1 men’s GRFA team are playing in Grand Final action on Sunday at 3pm at Howard Glover reserve, Geelong. Come along and lend your support to the teams.
JUNIORS PRESENTATION NIGHT: FRIDAY 11TH SEPT, 5PM TO 9PM

We’ll compile the votes and announce the winner at presentation night on Sat, Sept 19th at the club. Let’s see if your vote will match that of the Best and Fairest voted by the coach. The last winner of such an award in 2005 is David Cervisnki, who rates it, his highest sporting achievement.
