It’s Derby Time again
Sat 8th Aug, Geelong Rangers are welcoming North Geelong Warriors to Myers Reserve, Creamery Rd, Bell Post Hill.
Reserves at 1pm and Seniors at 3pm.
A lot has changed since the tight tussle of the last encounter. The Warriors have consolidated results and although a slight stutter a couple of weeks ago the Warriors keep a slight lead on top of the ladder in their quest for a promotion spot. In contrast Rangers who were unlucky not to go home with the 3 points the last time these two met are now in a position of fighting off relegation and need to string some good performances together to remain in Div 2.
The Warriors are sure that Rangers will use the local rivalry to spur their season on, however the Warriors are relying on the spirit of the competition and will look to use that intensity to keep their momentum going. Whatever the result it promises to be a great contest as it is whenever these two teams meet.
On Sunday at 10am our Junior Warriors Under 11 FFV side are playing local rivals also in Bell Park, the youngsters have done extremely well this year and are right up there with a chance to take top spot. At 11am our Women Warriors are at home vs La Trobe University, let’s wish them the best. They haven’t had a memorable season but as Warriors do, they have battled on and I’m sure they will lift for the occasion to get the most out of themselves.
Also on Sunday at 1pm is the Under 15 A side taking on rivals from up the highway, Werribee City. The boys have had a couple of draws in recent weeks and will be looking to get the three points to keep a grip on top spot.
