A week’s round up
It’s been a few weeks of away games but, we’re finally back at Home this Sat 15th Aug. North Geelong Warriors welcome Altona City to Elcho Park the home of the Warriors. Reserves at 1pm and Seniors at 3pm. Come out in your droves to support the club as the Senior squad look to push further for the championship.
The intensity of last week’s local derby showed just how hard the Warriors need to work to maintain the ladder leading position. A hard fought battle between Geelong’s powerhouse sides produced a fantastic match, giving the Warriors a 2 – 1 Victory.
However, it’s time to shift focus onto this week’s opponent Altona City. North Geelong had an unfortunate loss to Altona City in their first encounter, a 1 – 0 loss courtesy of a cruel penalty, gave Altona the 3 points. Despite North Geelong’s endless shots on target they just couldn’t come up with a goal.
The Warriors are keen to further maintain their lead on top of the ladder and Altona will prove a difficult task to overcome. They have shown through the season that they will fight when their backs are against the wall. In recent weeks we’ve witnessed some highlighted performances by Kuna and Cervinski, but it’s the squad unity and strength that has been the difference and they are showing that each week they have what it takes to fight and win. The reserves will be looking to bounce back to the winners circle after a tough 1 – 1 result last week. The side has done extremely well this year and we wish them and the seniors well on Saturday.
On Sunday our Junior Warriors Under 11 FFV side are playing against Hoppers Crossing away. The youngsters continue to do well and others team’s results meant that they are coming closer to push for top spot.
Our Women Warriors are away against Western Suburbs, although they aren’t managing to get the results we’re proud of the hard work and effort they put in.
On Sunday at 1.45pm at Howard Glover Reserve the Under 15 A side take on local rivals GRFA. Both teams had draws last week, which has kept this the 1st vs 2nd match they’ve been waiting for. A win for the Warriors will strengthen their opportunity for a Superleague spot next year. Good luck lads.
We wish all our teams well throughout the weekend.
